An addressable panel, also known as an addressable fire alarm control panel, is a type of fire alarm system that is used to monitor and control fire alarm devices in a building or facility.
Unlike a conventional fire alarm system that uses hardwired circuits to connect all devices to a single control panel, an addressable fire alarm system uses a digital communication protocol to connect each individual device to the control panel. This allows the panel to pinpoint the exact location of a fire alarm activation, making it easier for building occupants to evacuate and for firefighters to locate and extinguish the fire.
In an addressable fire alarm system, each device has a unique address that is programmed into the system. When a device detects smoke, heat, or other signs of a fire, it sends a signal to the control panel that includes its specific address. The control panel then activates alarms and other devices in the affected area and displays the location of the alarm on a graphical interface.
